Do the Liberal Arts Still Matter Today?

Today, higher education is at a critical junction in the United States. As the nation considers cost, debt and the necessity of a college degree, one factor remains: students must develop certain skills and abilities to be successful in our 21st century workforce.

What is the best way to do that? Does a broad, liberal arts education still matter today, or are specialized, more narrowly focused programs what students and employers need?
